Trivia
Rutgers-Newark, who broke to the elims as the 9th Seed, was a last minute replacement for Washington & Lee University, who had to withdraw due to the accidental death of one of the debaters.
The tournament was expanded to 44 teams to accomodate 8 Second Round At-Large Teams selected by the NDT Committee based on their year long record. 2 of the 8 cleared.
